I know a number of people who have had a lot of expensive problems with their front-end loading machines. We've had ours about a year and a half without any problem but if they don't last then I think they will get replaced with the old style machines. With regards to the wash/dyer shopping, i'm also shopping for the same appliances for the new home. From the research that i've done, seems that the front loading ones are the new standard. The only problem with the front loading washers is that they spin so fast that they move around a lot, thus make a lot of noise. Something you may want to keep in mind if you're planning on putting the washer/dryer on your main floor. Not so much a problem if it's in a basement. Hey thanks for the mention.
