Too many employees provide problems rather than solutions for their employer. Thank you for the insightful article, these are great pointers for this time and age where people are struggling to keep their careers alive.

As for Gen-Yers, I agree that most people my age (early 20s) are ungrateful and unappreciative of the opportunities that come their way. They want all the glory without the grit, not understanding that sucess is built on a bedrock of hardwork and determination. Everyone learns for themselves eventually though, so I'm not too concerned.

Please visit my blog for writing by a Gen-Yer thats over 140 words! Thanks again.

Excellent topic and greetings from California! Saw the post up on GetRichslowly.

I'd like to add one crucial thing, and that's simply: Get in first, leave last! That is the easiest thing to do to win points, never get fired, get promoted, and make the max money at your firm.

I write about it on my blog entitled: "Rich People Try Harder: True or False?"

Glad I found your site. Hope all is well and come visit RB30RB40 here in California one day!

Cheers,

I like this article. I am an employee in my mid-20s working for a small consulting company. Your article is insightful and speaks to me personally. I couldn't agree more on the mundane tasks I was given at the beginning, and slowly learning to prioritize and think more as my boss. And yeah, 140-character text generation hits home to me.

All VERY good advice! From my experience, the absolute worst exployees are those who started work in the public sector without first working in the private sector. They have no idea what it's like in the real world.

I will humbly submit another one: you act in the company's best interest while planning your exit. You'll probably earn some good references for future jobs if you take the time to limit the impact on your soon to be former company while you are on the way out (quitting to start a new job, etc.)
